Other skin problems, such as eczema or psoriasis, can also develop. If left untreated, it can lead to unpleasant deep splits in the skin known as fissures. Dehydration may cause the skin of your feet to become irritated, sensitive, dry, and cracked. The feet, as previously said, have a large number of sweat glands, which require more water than usual, especially in stressful situations. The operation and management of gut bacteria and cortisol in your body can be influenced by stress. Sweat production is biologically primed to keep your body cool, and the feet have more than 250,000 sweat glands that require more hydration than other parts of your body. Increased sweat secretion plays another role in the development of cold feet. Poor blood circulation to your feet and ankles can trigger the effects of the “fight or flight” response, also known as hyperarousal or acute stress response. It’s a commonly experienced symptom of stress. Cold FeetĬold feet aren’t only an expression of doubt. However, because your feet are intended to function in a specific manner, it frequently results in foot pain. People who are stressed may feel as if their walking or natural movement is strange, therefore they begin to walk improperly to alleviate this sensation. Those who are distressed tend to breathe mechanically rather than organically, which might increase their anxiety. Manually controlled movements are common under stress.

If you’re having problems keeping automatic abilities due to foot discomfort, it may be because your stress causes you to focus on manually controlling your movements. Untreated stress may exacerbate the symptoms of any of these pre-existing conditions and may also prolong the healing process. The lack of flexibility in the lower extremities produces tightened muscles and weak flexibility that can contribute to the development of issues like plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. This produces stiffness and/or tingling in your feet. Stress produces hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, which alter the function of your circulation and respiratory systems, muscles, and immunological function. It is literally one of our favourite poses, once you learn to breathe and let go.When you stress, it causes the blood to circulate away from your feet. The breath will carry you through and soon transform your state to calm, as you let go of stored stress. As hip flexors are such strong muscles, when we approach hip openers it can be challenging, but stick with it and BREATHE. So many people inexplicably come to tears in these poses as old emotions resurface. No matter how you say it, stretching the hip muscles causes a release and allows stored emotion to melt away. This unconscious tension can be held from one traumatic event, or lots of little events where the stress of feelings like sadness, fear and worry are stored and can get stuck. It not only traps muscular tension, but also deep cognitive emotion felt at that time.

These actions use the hips and when these muscles have been clenched tightly they shorten and the full tension is never fully released. Our natural response to stress is to use our hips to take flight, fight or bend forward and raise our knees up into a fetal position to protect our core. This same action of clenching happens in your hips when we feel threatened (fight or flight) or hear bad news. Your unconscious retain is to clench your jaw. Think of what you do when you feel angry. But how are our hips so strongly associated with emotion? The hips are an area where people hold a lot of unconscious tension, old emotions and deep vulnerabilities.
